dragonfly assisted stillpoint induction

A handful of you know I’ve been studying a form of bodywork that marries together both craniosacral therapy and myofascial release. This modality of hands on work is called Dynamic Body Balancing and was first done by an incredible woman named Dr. Carol Phillips.

This form of care is very different than chiropractic and massage, while both are incredibly valuable and supportive to overall health, facilitating fascial unwinding brings about another level of care that works really well in tandem with both chiro and massage — especially when neither are quite getting to the root of the issue at hand.

I’ve been educating my hands, expanding my awareness of physical anatomy and function, and honing in my ability to listen and follow the body in order to create opportunity for balance in a world that is continually pulling us out of balance.

My intent to add this to my skillset has firstly been for my family, particularly my husband and first son, and secondarily I see this being transformational generationally for the mommas, babies, and families I have the honor to work with prenatally and in the sacred postpartum time. Helping babies from the start of their life find safety and freedom of movement in their bodies truly sets them up for health in ways I so dearly wish we all would have had.

I have so much I could say, but today just wanted to share a story that to me feels like exactly the medicine my heart has needed this week.

In CranioSacral Therapy, the term “stillpoint induction” in easy terms is essentially when the body goes into a pause. When the craniosacral system pauses, our body is able to reorganize and resituate. Like a computer rebooting when it’s overheated or overwhelmed, or the GPS recalibrating when you’ve gone off course. This pause creates opportunity for self correction, and ultimately, healing. Mind, body, spirit.

This week I’ve felt a need to be in creation.

In the water.

On the ground.

Moved by the wind.

Showered by the rain.

I’ve spent a lot of time just being with the feelings in my body, the thoughts in my mind. This doesn’t happen nearly enough, but life has a way of creating space when space is needed, right?

So this afternoon I set myself up with the tools I have for a craniosacral stillpoint induction in the grass near our garden, where time seems to pause.

As I lay, I feel my body begin to settle (actually.. more like sink) into the ground beneath me, supported by the devices I have to support the stillpoint induction.

As I lay, I welcome the singing of the birds, the force of the wind, the brightness of the sun. I embrace the rawness of the thoughts that float in and out like the clouds.

And as I lay, the dragonflies that I love so fiercely began to land in line all along my left side. Up from my feet, to my pelvis, my belly, one even landing directly on my lower lip, off center toward my left cheek.

As I lay, my heart filled with gratitude for the wisdom innate in all of creation and the easy willingness to simply do what it’s called to do.

Dragonfly assisted craniosacral stillpoint induction.

Literally.

I’ve been yearning for all of creation to hold me, and so it is.

How humbled and grateful I am and continually in awe of the world around us and within us.

So my beautiful friends, if you’re feeling like you need some miracles, or direction, or maybe just some acknowledgement and recognition — don’t look so hard that you miss the magic right in front of you and all around.

You may be given exactly the information you’ve been asking for.
